Aquila Special Operations as a company was started in 2001 by Peter Blignaut. Subsequent to his experiences within the Global Security industry and his Military service, which started in 1983.

Aquila is divided into three main departments.

Aquila is managed by people who are highly skilled and well trained in all facets of the security industry. These skills and knowledge include combined military and police service experience. On both operational and tactical levels of more than 35 years including Senior Certificates in Security Management from UNISA, Senior Management Certificates from Technikon Pretoria, and a Senior Certificate in Project Management from the George Washington University.

On the operational level our operators have been exposed to various operations internally as well as outside the borders of South Africa. These operations include, Convoy Protection, Close Protection for Dignitaries and Celebrities, Safe House Security, Air Base Security, Building Security, Mine Security as well as numerous Search and Rescue Operations and Direct Action Operations.
