Aquila Special Operations as a company was started in 2001 by Peter Blignaut, subsequent to his experiences within the Global Security industry and his Military service which started in 1983.

Aquila is divided into five departments.
Operations/ Support/ Administration/ Training/ Reserve.
Controlled by a central Command.

Aquila, operationally, is divided into three groups:

1. Close Protection.
2. Special Service Operations.
3. Direct Action and Support Operations.

Each main department is controlled by a Senior Officer.

Each operational group is controlled by an Officer.
